Making mathematics one's profession, the importance of periods of training and work abroad, the career of women in research and institutions: these are the themes of the International Women's Day in Mathematics which is celebrated on 27 May on the initiative of Italian Mathematical Union.

The international day actually occurs on 11 May, but the events and celebrations this year, thanks to the pandemic, were distributed over the month and made using the internet platforms.

Overall, 125 countries have organized events to inspire women to celebrate their achievements in mathematics and to encourage an open and inclusive work environment for all. In the organizing committee of this year's International Day there is also the Italian Elisabetta Strickland; with her colleagues from all over the world, such as Nikita Agarwal (India), Carolina Araujo (Brazil), Mojgan Mahmoudi (Iran), Marie Francoise Ouedraogo (Burkina Faso), Olga Paris-Romaskevich (France / Russia), Marie-Francoise Roy ( France), Petra B. Taylor (Usa), Andrea Vera Gajardo (Chile).

The appointment for Italy is for May 27 with a direct streaming organized by the Italian Mathematical Union, with Roberto natalini, director of the Institute for Applications of Calculus' M. Picone 'of the National Research Council (Cnr). The event is organized in three sessions, in each of which four people, mostly women, will tell their story and experience.
