The large study published on May 22 in the prestigious review The Lancetultimately did not allow to see much more clearly, on the contrary. At first glance, the analysis of data from the medical records of 96,000 patients treated in 671 hospitals around the world seemed eloquent: the mortality of patients treated with this drug was 30% higher than that of the control group. A huge difference which has led French health authorities to very quickly suspend all prescriptions for the molecule outside clinical trials. But this unequivocal result was not long in arousing the scientific community.
