Good evening,

Today, France has registered 54 additional deaths in the past 24 hours. According to Odoxa's health barometer for Le Figaro and France Info, confinement had a rather positive effect on the health habits of the French. The collapsologie makes new followers in France thanks to the pandemic. Finally, store owners, restaurateurs and merchants compete over the payment of rents corresponding to confinement.

Good reading,

Roland Gauron, journalist at Le Figaro

1. What happened today

The "effondrists" believe that our civilization is coming to an end. From blogs to Facebook groups, to successful books, many French people are convinced of the need to prepare for a possible disaster. 259001692 / lassedesignen - stock.adobe.com

Collapsology is making new followers. They believe in the imminent collapse of our civilization and advocate a return to nature, far from consumerism and globalization. Long marginalized and mocked, the followers of collapsology, a movement from the United States, saw a renewed interest in their ideas with the pandemic. If you believe them, the virus has accelerated awareness, even if the end of our civilization has not yet come. " This is not yet the real collapse - when basic state services are no longer provided. But a general rehearsal, a kind of stress test that allowed us to point out what worked and what did not work, ” says economist Loïc Steffan, co-founder of the Observatory of Collapsed Experiences. Le Figaro visited the Richart family in Cantal, where their original way of life is no longer as laughing as it used to be. "The immersion courses that we are organizing are almost all complete this summer," explains Rémi, a former computer scientist.

Where is the epidemic in France? French hospitals have recorded 54 deaths linked to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the epidemic to 29,209 dead since March 1, according to figures released by the Directorate General of Health. The number of people hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection continues to decline, to 12,315 patients, against 12,461 on Sunday, or 146 less The number of serious forms of the disease, requiring admission to intensive care, continues its slow but regular decline: it dropped to 1,024 people on Monday, 29 less than Sunday. We have to go back to March 18 to find a daily report showing fewer patients in intensive care. " The situation has improved and continues to improve, but it is too early to in any way relax our vigilance ", recalled the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, during a trip to a test center screening at Argenteuil.

Rather good containment for health. Contrary to popular belief, containment ultimately had a positive effect on the health habits of the French. This is the main lesson of the Odoxa health barometer for Le Figaro and France Info, published this Monday. Thus, the number of French people who insure drinking alcohol on a regular or occasional basis fell from 57% before confinement to 51% after. The same trend was also among smokers. " All of these behaviors have a social dimension," notes the survey . We drink more, smoke more, eat more (crisps, coke, etc.) when we are in society. ” The practice of sport did not suffer from confinement. For one in five French people, the period was an opportunity to discover new sports or relaxation activities. Which didn't stop them from gaining weight. One in three French people say they have gained weight. They have gained an average of 3 kg and 19% of those questioned even declare having gained more than 5 kg.

I wait. I'm waiting for a response from my landlord and I'm also waiting to pay

Audrey Carbo, shopkeeper in downtown Nîmes

The puzzle of unpaid rents. Deprived of receipts during confinement, many traders have been unable to pay their rents in recent months. Only a minority of them even settled the deadlines corresponding to the closing months. Each party considers itself in its right. On the one hand, tenants are waiting for their landlords to shoulder some of the burden. On the other hand, the owners refuse to make a general gesture for all their tenants. But discussions with the owners promise to be tense. “We are not meant to help everyone. The biggest brands can afford to pay. We also don't have the means to save all the companies that are going badly, ” explains a land manager. "I wait. I'm waiting for a response from my owner and I'm also waiting to pay, ” retorts Audrey Carbo, a merchant in downtown Nîmes. "To pay these fixed charges which amount to 3000 euros per month is to jeopardize my business."

Positive / depressed. The health crisis has exacerbated temperaments. Between pessimists and optimists, war is declared. Who is right and who is wrong? Nobody, answers Yves-Alexandre Thalmann, clinical psychologist. To situate us on the subjective scale of optimism, he offers an exercise. "What if you read the newspaper with two highlighters in the color of your choice?" Before you begin, try to determine if you plan to find more bad or good news in your daily life. Most people expect an 80-20 ratio. Do the exercise and look at the result: you may be surprised… positively! ”

See. The analogies between the 1940 debacle and the health crisis have been repeatedly emphasized in recent months. The director Emmanuelle Nobécourt and the historian Olivier Wieviorka trace, in a documentary broadcast this evening on France 3, the flight of these some ten million refugees, pushed on the roads by the Nazi invasion, and give the floor to a few of his survivors. “The film sheds new light on returns, complicated by the free zone, the dividing line, inaccessible to Eastern Jews. It also recalls certain dramatic facts, such as the looting or destruction of houses and the search for lost children , notes our journalist Isabelle Mermin. The Exodus is available until June 15 on VOD on the france.tv site.

Everything is a symbol, everything is Matisse. Stained glass windows reminiscent of paper cutouts and ocean blue from Oceania on door handles

Valérie Duponchelle, journalist in the Culture department of "Figaro"

To visit. Valérie Duponchelle takes us to discover the Vence chapel, created by Matisse. “Everything is a symbol, everything is Matisse. Stained glass windows reminiscent of paper cutouts and ocean blue from Oceania on the doorknobs. From the confessional to the candelabras, stalls and tabernacles to the crucifix in gilt bronze, stylized candlesticks in the shape of an anemone with a chalice, from the clear altar to its tablecloth where Matisse draws fish, ” enthuses our journalist. " He will say that this chapel is his" masterpiece ", the culmination of his whole life in the search for light. This project could have never seen the light of day, as Frère Marc, art historian recounts: “The sisters of Vence were afraid to call on Matisse, contemporary artist and painter of nudes. "

To cook. For our “France à la carte” series, Amélie Darvas from the Äponem restaurant in Vailhan, invites us to taste the nasturtium from Hérault. "Why did I choose to tell you about nasturtium?" All my colleagues tell you about vegetables and fruits, I took a plant to stand out! , laughs the chef. "The nasturtium has enough resources to put it in a sauce, like, for example, a base of chorizo in which I add some at the last moment, before emulsifying strongly with olive oil and, hop, I send. Another recipe that works very well: nasturtium leaves, blanched for two seconds and then slipped, still crunchy, in a vegetable ravioli. ” It is this second recipe that she invites us to make at home.

4. Deconfinement, "phase 2"

If many prohibitions have been lifted with the "phase 2" of deconfinement, the time has not yet returned to normal, especially in the orange zones - Île-de-France, Guyana and Mayotte. Here is what is allowed again:

  • The 100 km limitation is removed. Air travel to overseas is reserved for compelling reasons.
  • Schools continue to reopen gradually, with a limit of 15 students per class.
  • Restaurants, bars and cafes reopen following certain rules. Only the terraces are concerned in the orange zone.
  • Hotels can reopen all over the country, as can other tourist accommodation in the green zone.
  • Parks and gardens, as well as forests, are accessible, as are beaches, lakes and nautical centers.
  • The museums, monuments and zoological parks reopen their doors, with compulsory mask.
  • Theaters, casinos and leisure parks are once again open to the public, but only in green areas.
  • In the green zone, the gyms and swimming pools reopen. Stadiums and racetracks also, but without audiences.

And what is not yet:

  • Gatherings of more than 10 people in public space are prohibited.
  • The events of more than 5000 people will wait, at least until August 31.

5. The reflexes to adopt

A few simple steps can limit the spread of the virus. Here they are :

  • Wash your hands every hour.
  • Cough or sneeze into the crease of his elbow.
  • Use disposable tissues.
  • Avoid kissing or shaking hands.
  • Wear a mask in public spaces.
  • Limit your movements as much as possible.

Covid-19 is spread by saliva through close contact with an infected person, especially when the person coughs or sneezes. The virus also remains viable for a few hours on different surfaces.

The disease manifests with several symptoms. In 9 out of 10 cases, this results in a fever below 39 ° C. According to the World Health Organization, this fever is most often accompanied by fatigue , signs of shortness of breath and a dry cough .

6. What to do in case of symptoms?

The most important thing now is to get tested. According to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, you should, if you have symptoms, stay at home and contact your doctor who will order a test. While waiting for the result, you must isolate yourself, wear a mask and list the people you may have contaminated.

If the test is positive, the Primary Health Insurance Fund will contact those likely to be infected. You must then remain isolated for at least 8 days, taking care not to contaminate your loved ones. Watch your health. If you have a fever, take paracetamol. Possibly plan a follow-up teleconsultation with your doctor.

If you feel difficulty breathing , call 15.

If the test is negative, contact your doctor and follow their instructions.

See you tomorrow.
