The eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will arrive in Europe in 2021. The landing in the old continent of the first rear-engined mid-engine in the 67-year history of the iconic American car, has been postponed to next year also due to the pandemic from Covid-19, but the C8, so named because of the fact having reached eight generations, it will also reach the Italian market. The salient features of the Stingray are the mechanical configuration, the supercar aerodynamic lines, the obsessive attention to every detail and, above all, the high performance and technological standards. In Europe, both the coupe and the convertible are destined to arrive simultaneously in dealerships, initially offered in the special and super-equipped Launch Edition version. Chevrolet has decided that in Europe it will immediately market the Corvette Stingray in the most 'aggressive' and complete set-up, which includes the Z51 Performance package and the 2LT package regarding the finishes as standard. Exceptionally, the Launch Edition version will even have the 3LT step, the highest level of customization available for a Corvette, which provides a series of external and internal details in carbon. The Magnetic Ride Control suspension system is also standard on the Launch Edition, which is originally available as an option on the C8 for Europe. The Z51 pack includes manual suspension calibration adjustment, Brembo brake system with oversized discs and front air intakes for cooling, the limited slip electronic differential, the shorter rear axle ratio, the exhaust system Performance, the aerodynamic package with front splitter and rear spoiler to maximize downforce and stability, and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. In addition, each of the European Corvettes will be equipped with a series of devices not included in the basic version proposed in the United States, namely Performance Data Recorder, Head-Up display, navigation system with 12 "display, Bose audio system with 14 speakers, mirror Central rear view mirror with integrated camera, heated and ventilated seats. As regards safety, various driving assistance devices are standard, including the Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist, the Side Blind Zone Alert and the Rear Cross Traffic Alert. the heart of the new Corvette Stingray is the new 6.2-liter small-block V8-LT2 engine, the only atmospheric V8 in this segment, paired for the first time with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

In combination with the powerful Performance exhaust system, this engine delivers 495 hp (369 kW) and 637 Nm of torque, making the new mid-engined Corvette the most powerful Stingray of all time. The prices in Italy of the Launch Editions start from 102,500 Euros for the Coupé and 109,680 Euros for the Convertible, with an electric hard top that replaces the classic canvas top.
