E-scooters have been permitted in traffic for around a year. Models from rental companies often roll through the streets. But there are more and more scooters to buy. Are they good for what?
Munich (dpa / tmn) - If you buy cheap, you buy twice. This can also apply to e-scooters. In a current ADAC test of nine electric scooters, the cheap models do rather poorly. But even the most expensive e-mobiles are not automatically at the front.
The club put scooters through their paces from 279 to 1849 euros. Only a third scores "good", five are "satisfactory". Only the taillight just reached a "sufficient". Here too small wheels make for a shaky ride and a weld broke in the aluminum frame during an inspection.
The price midfield is the best
The test winner is the "Segway-Ninebot Max G30 D" for 799 euros. Among other things, he is one step ahead in terms of both driving characteristics and workmanship and scores "good" (grade 2.2). The testers also rated the "Velix E-Kick 20 E" for 798 euros (2.4) and the "SO Flow SO 6" (2.5). For 704 euros, the latter also gets price-performance winners with a grade of 2.5.
The testers find the two most expensive models for 1186 and 1849 euros only "satisfactory". A prepared scooter from a rental company does the same for 699 euros - also because it weighs the most and cannot be folded.
Low prices at the expense of security?
In comparison to last year's test, the prices had dropped, but the scooters had "significantly better and shorter braking distances", according to the ADAC. This year, the braking distance in the identical test procedure for braking from 20 km / h increased on average from around 2 to 3.4 meters.
