The Archbishop of Avignon decided to "place a residence order" for this man, who was also the subject of a complaint filed by the family of his alleged victim. This auxiliary priest, who was attached to the parish of Carpentras, is suspected of having touched a little boy, reports this Friday France Bleu. According to the radio, the monk was intoxicated when, on Wednesday July 1, he put his hand on the buttocks of a little boy, in front of his father. It was the father who warned the parish priest, after having intervened so that the auxiliary priest ceased his activities.

The priest immediately seized the public prosecutor of Carpentras and the boy's family also lodged a complaint.

The follow-up of an addictologist

"We cannot hide such facts," proclaimed in a statement the Archbishop of Avignon Jean-Pierre Cattenoz, who advocates "zero tolerance before such acts". He expressed his “sadness” and his “pain” towards the little victim, his family, as well as towards the community of the parish of Carpentras. These facts are "inadmissible in the Church", underlines the archbishop, who estimated that "it is necessary to crack down on all those who act in such a way".

He announced that he had decided to assign the offending priest to residence and asked him to benefit from psychological care, as well as follow-up with an addictologist. In fact, the man who was also asked to stand by the justice system has had his ministries withdrawn and no longer has the right to celebrate the Eucharist with the public. According to La Provence, it has been ten months since man was discharged from activity, for "health reasons" at the parish of Carpentras.
