A 46-year-old detainee who was serving a sentence for domestic violence committed suicide on Friday in Montauban prison, in Tarn-et-Garonne, the prosecution said.
The man, who suffocated while he was alone in his cell, died in the city hospital, where he had been transferred in critical condition, according to the prosecutor, Laurent Czernik.
