Invited to RMC this Friday morning, the Minister of Health reminds that "the virus is still circulating" but that "there is no reason to consider a second wave" for now.

Asked by RMC by Jean-Jacques Bourdin about the influx of unconventional holidaymakers, Olivier Véran said he found it " normal " for the French to " want to forget about confinement ": " The French need a vacation, they have want to forget. That they forget confinement, that there is a work of resilience, it is normal, but there is one thing that they must not forget, it is the barrier gestures. We must not forget that the virus is circulating . ”

Regarding the approach of July 14, despite the cancellation of the traditional parade, Olivier Véran said he hoped that the French "will respect barrier gestures " by " going to the ball ". We don't ask the French to be robots, we ask them to be vigilant. It is an effort of daily vigilance that the French must apply this summer, "he added.

Airport controls and tests

Who says vacation departures says travel and airport, raising fears of a reimportation of the disease from these risk areas. The Minister of Health ensures in this sense " develop campaigns of saliva tests in airports ": " All travelers who come from countries at risk will be offered within a few days this saliva test, even within airports ".

Today, in total, 350,000 French people are tested per week, "but we are able to do more," says the minister. We sent a million and a half million health insurance vouchers to people to tell them to get tested. We just did the same in Mayenne, with 300,000 vouchers that have been sent . But we are not going to get people by the arm to force them to do PSR, "he added. Today, we are at 1.1% positive tests. That is to say that, out of 100 French people who are tested, 99 do not have the Covid ”, underlines Olivier Véran. "During an epidemic, we were 25% positive," proof that "the virus regresses week after week".

Reconfinement and second wave

What would be the reconfiguration envisaged in the event of a second wave? " At this stage, there is no reason to consider it, " said the Minister. But Germany had to reconfigure more than a million inhabitants . The virus has regressed in our country but is increasing in other countries, so we remain very vigilant ”. However, if there is a second wave, Olivier Véran ensures that " France is ready " to control and limit it.
