The launch of the United Arab Emirates' first mission to Mars has been postponed due to bad weather: the Hope Mars spacecraft, whose departure was scheduled today from the Tanegashima space center in southern Japan, will still have to wait. The postponement has been announced by officials of the UAE space agency and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center, with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries managing the Japanese H-2A launcher.

The postponement of the launch was decided just before finishing the final countdown preparations and the new scheduled launch date will be announced in the next few hours.

The Hope Mars mission involves the launch of a probe that should reach Mars in 2021 and enter its orbit to study its atmosphere using three tools: a high resolution digital camera, an infrared and an ultraviolet spectrometer. The data collected will allow you to create a model of the atmosphere of the red planet to understand the causes that made it so subtle that it does not allow water to exist in a liquid state.
