• Over 574,000 dead
At least 574,278 people died due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report established by AFP from official sources Tuesday July 14 at 8 p.m. Over 13 million cases of infection have been officially diagnosed in 196 countries and territories. While the United States remains the most bereaved country with 136,432 victims, California, the most severely affected region of the United States and which has seen an increase in the number of new cases in recent weeks, is reconfiguring itself by closing restaurants, bars, schools and places of worship. In Latin America, Brazil and Mexico remain severely affected with 74,133 and 35,491 deaths, respectively.
In France, the epidemic has not disappeared and has claimed more than 30,000 victims in total. The President of the Republic spoke in his traditional speech on July 14 in favor of wearing the mask in all enclosed public places.
• Final phase for a vaccine
As the pandemic continues to rage around the world, a glimmer of hope seems to appear for the creation of a vaccine against Covid-19. American biotech Moderna announced Tuesday July 14 that it will enter the final phase of its clinical trials for a vaccine against Covid-19 on July 27. This last step is essential, it must verify the effectiveness of the treatment in real conditions. 30,000 Americans will receive a sample, half will be the molecule in question, the other will be a placebo.
Moderna is not the only laboratory on the trail of a vaccine. The Chinese company SinoVac is also at an advanced stage of research and the Russian agency TASS has also announced that it has conclusive results which have not yet been published.

• India is being massively reconfigured
