Five children lost their lives on Monday evening in a road accident and four other occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured, indicates the prefecture of Drôme. According to the Dauphine Libéré, all the victims were in the same vehicle, which left the roadway on the A7 motorway, at Albon (Drôme) in still undetermined conditions, before igniting.
The Prefect of Drôme is currently on site. It would appear that the vehicle, a Renault Scenic, had only 7 seats. Also according to the local daily, the occupants of the damaged car were part of a blended family, from the Lyon region, who was probably returning from vacation. The car reportedly rolled over before coming to rest in the field and catching fire.
Prime Minister Jean Castex quickly published a message of condolence on the social network Twitter. "My thoughts are with the families and relatives of the victims of the accident on the A7, in the Drôme" wrote the tenant of Matignon.
