A young man of 18 was attacked with a machete in the district of the station in Bordeaux (Gironde) this Tuesday afternoon, according to information from France Bleu.

According to the first elements, reported by the Bordeaux prosecutor's office, the victim was in the street in front of the station, with a satchel in hand, when two individuals attacked him.

The first assailant severed his hand and injured his thigh, giving him two blows with a machete. The second fired two shots with a handgun, according to witnesses interviewed over the radio.

The perpetrators still wanted

The two men fled and are still wanted.

The victim was taken to hospital. According to the prosecution, “his life is not in danger”.

The investigations were entrusted to the Brigade for the repression of attacks on persons (Brap) of the Departmental Security. In particular, investigators will have to determine whether the assault took place against a background of drug trafficking. The young man was found with 17 bars of hashish in his satchel.

"The police sealed off part of the course of the Marne to traffic in the afternoon for more than two hours," said a local shopkeeper to the Sud Ouest daily.
