The communications company announced the establishment of a fifth-generation network in Israel • Preliminary tests show: a surfing speed of about 1.3 GB • In addition, announced a collaboration with Nexar as part of a new technology development

Hot Mobile reports today (Sunday) that in recent months, and after successful laboratory experiments, the company has begun a pilot to implement a fifth generation network (5G). As part of the experiments conducted by the company, it managed to reach a browsing rate of about 1.3 gigabits per second from a mobile phone.

The technology is based on Ericsson's 5th generation sites, which include, among other things, performance tests and technological capabilities and a combination of testing applications that match the network's advanced capabilities. In addition, the company has established together with Nokia a 5G network based on cloud infrastructure, which will enable developments and the provision of advanced services. The investment is estimated at tens of millions of shekels.

The company also announces a collaboration with the Israeli company Nexar, which markets smart car cameras. The company has developed technology that uses smart car cameras and mass sourcing to produce a live image of the road and urban environment in real time.

The technology is based on artificial intelligence (AI) and processes all the information received from car and cellular cameras to provide a snapshot of what is happening on the roads. Nexar and Hot Mobile will leverage the 5G infrastructure to process and analyze the images locally, enabling the creation of computational power that will form the basis for innovative applications such as smart cities, road accident prevention and real-time parking detection and municipal property management.

Since not a single antenna has yet been deployed in the public domain, it will take time until we see the new network in Israel. Hot Mobile, like Partner, which also recently announced the establishment of a 5G network, depends on the Ministry of Communications, which only recently announced that the first phase of the antenna deployment tender has been completed.

"In recent months, we have started the second phase of setting up a 5G network and deployed advanced sites in several places in the country," said Ilan Brock, CEO of Hot Mobile. "In addition, the path to implementation goes through innovation platforms, based on collaborations with leading technology companies. We have set ourselves the goal of experimenting and implementing innovation in the most significant aspects at the core of our business and therefore we announce a technological innovation program, to identify innovative technologies and applications in the fields of 5G ".

Eran Shir, CEO and co-founder of Nexar, said, "We are pleased to be collaborating with Hot Mobile because together we can advance Israel's transformation into a smart country. Generation 5 technology will allow us to process the information transmitted at a fast pace and process the entire picture of Israel's reality in real time. The technology we have developed enables us to create a real-time transport-urban image, with the help of which we have been able to help cities around the world manage roads efficiently, and drivers to drive safely.
