The wife of an emergency physician killed by Covid-19 complained

Claire Loupiac, whose husband Eric Loupiac died after being infected with the coronavirus, filed a complaint against X on Monday, August 3.


The complaint against X was filed on Monday with the prosecutor's office in Lons-le-Saunier (Jura). Claire Loupiac, married to emergency doctor Eric Loupiac who died from Covid-19, has taken the case to court as she had planned since April, she tells the Parisian, confirming information revealed by Le Monde this Tuesday.

"I want the culprits of this negligence to be found and for an explanation of why the preventive recommendations presented by my husband to the hospital and to the Regional Health Agency (ARS) were not followed", she explains. The mother of the family refers in particular to wearing a mask, screening and "setting up inside the hospital".

Eric Loupiac died on April 23 at the age of 60, after being hospitalized in intensive care in Marseille. He would have been contaminated "the weekend of March 7, during a guard in the emergency department of the hospital of Lons-le-Saunier, where he has been practicing for twelve years", explained his wife to the Parisian on May 6 latest.

No procedure before the Court of Justice of the Republic

“The complaint is filed against X, so it can target several people,” she explains today. In his viewfinder, appear in particular the director of the hospital and that of the Regional Health Agency.

Even if she also reproaches things, she says, to the Minister of Health Olivier Véran and his predecessor Agnès Buzyn, Claire Loupiac is not one of the plaintiffs who seized the Court of Justice of the Republic, the only jurisdiction that can judge the ministers for acts committed in the performance of their duties.

"Here, the judicial process is not falsely vindictive, it is a question of repressing the serious shortcomings which caused the death of Doctor Loupiac, and this in spite of the repeated alerts which he had brought to the attention of the administrative hierarchy ”, explains to Le Monde his lawyer, Antoine Vey, also a former partner of Eric Dupond-Moretti, now Minister of Justice.
