A blood-red 'wound' extending over 4 square kilometers: the area of Beirut damaged by the explosion appears, in the images taken by the radar of the Sentinel-1 satellite of the Copernicus Earth observation program, managed by the European Space Agency ( Esa) and the European Commission.
The image, processed by Leonardo through e-GEOS (Telespazio / Italian Space Agency), was obtained thanks to the multi-coherence approach, in which four satellite images analyzed on different dates and processed jointly are analyzed. Compared to other methods of analysis, in this case, multi-consistency displays damage more clearly. In fact, the impact of the explosion had repercussions not only in the port area, but also in the surrounding areas.
