The policeman's days are not in danger. Thursday evening, during a road check in Saint-Malo, in Ille-et-Vilaine, the official was struck by the driver of a vehicle, who then fled, reports Ouest-France. At around 7:30 p.m., the Renault vehicle was seen, circulating in a suspicious manner and carrying out several traffic violations.

Police officers present decide to control him, but he notices and tries to lose them, according to France Bleu. Following a red light, the driver finds himself stuck in traffic and the police manage to block him. One of them then approaches the driver on foot. This is where the latter reverses, in order to get out of the traffic before rushing forward on the policeman.

"We could have had a drama"

“He jumped and slipped on the hood,” the police commander, François Botella, told the local daily. “We could have had a drama,” he worried. His colleague then fell to the ground violently. He was injured and hospitalized, without his state of health causing concern, but according to France Bleu, he was issued with a temporary incapacity for work (ITT) of 10 days.

The recalcitrant driver fled. The 27-year-old man was finally arrested and taken into custody, with a young underage girl, his presumed passenger, this Friday morning, while the Saint-Malo prosecutor's office opened an investigation for "attempted homicide" .

At the beginning of July, in Lot-et-Garonne, a 25-year-old gendarme died after being struck at 130 km / h by a man driving without a license, who was trying to escape a traffic check. In Le Mans last week, a 43-year-old police officer also died after being struck by a 26-year-old motorist, already convicted of refusing to comply, while he was trying to flee. "There is clearly in society more and more a refusal of authority [...] it is worrying", lamented the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin, after this tragedy.
