Darmanin wants to sue rapper Freeze Corleone for "apology for Nazism and anti-Semitism"

The Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, assured this Thursday that he was going to prosecute rapper Freeze Corleone, accused of indulging in “the apology of Nazism” and “anti-Semitism” in his songs.

On Wednesday, the International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism (Licra) posted on social networks a video compilation of the artist's punchlines, referring to the Shoah, Hitler or even the founder of the Taliban, Mullah Omar.

"Anti-Semitism, conspiracy, apology for Hitler, the Third Reich and the terrorist Mollah Omar, rapper Freeze Corleone does business with his obsession with Jews," pin the organization.

"Impunity must end", asks the Licra, urging all "partner actors" of the rapper to "take their responsibilities".

"Our Republic cannot accept that pseudo-artistic expression can serve as a pretext for calls for hatred or for the apology of terrorism", had criticized a little earlier about fifty deputies.

In this open letter, distributed by the LREM deputy of Indre François Jolivet, the elected officials ask the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, "to act so that [Freeze Corleone] is punished".

Issa Lorenzo Diakhaté, alias Freeze Corleone, is a rapper born in 1992 in Lilas (Seine-Saint-Denis).

His latest album, "La Menace Fantôme", was released on Friday.

Some 24 hours after its release on the Spotify streaming platform, the album already had 5.2 million plays, according to Hip-Hop Ultimate Team.
