The American software giant has announced that it is acquiring one of the largest gaming companies in the world, Zenimax Media - the parent company of Studio Bethesda.

Drama in the Gaming World: Microsoft announced today (Monday) that it is acquiring Zenimax Media, the parent company of game developer Bethesda, for $ 7.5 billion in cash.

As part of the deal, the American software giant will also acquire the offices and studios of Zenimax Media, along with 2,300 employees.

Bethesda is the developer of several successful video game series in the gaming industry such as Doom, The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

And the timing is not coincidental and comes with the upcoming launch, on November 10, of the Xbox Series X and Series S series, with the aim of increasing the game catalog exclusively.

Other companies that belong to Zenimax are Arkane Studios (Dishonored series), MachineGames, and the Tango Gameworks studio (which is responsible for The Evil Within). Now that the acquisition is complete, Microsoft is increasing its studio operations from 15 to 23.
