At least 26 people, according to a latest report, died in the collapse of a residential building in western India, which occurred on Monday around 3:40 am (12:10 am Sunday French time).
A dozen people remain trapped under the rubble.
The search continues to find possible survivors in the ruins of this three-story building in Bhiwandi, near Bombay.
On Monday, rescuers from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were able to extract alive 20 people, including two boys aged four and seven.

According to a spokesperson for the NDRF, rescue teams, assisted by sniffer dogs, found twenty-six bodies in the cement and brick debris.
This spokesperson estimates that 12 to 15 people are still trapped in the rubble, without it being possible to know if there are any survivors among them.

The director general of the NDRF, Satya Narayan Pradhan, explained on Twitter that he expected an even heavier toll with "more (bodies) under the rubble".
The causes of the accident are still unknown.
Building collapses are relatively common in India between June and September, during the monsoon season, with intense rainfall sometimes weakening structures.
