The anti-reconciliation bracelet, intended to keep violent spouses and ex-spouses away, will come into force on Friday, according to a decree published this Thursday in the Official Journal.
This device makes it possible to geolocate violent spouses or ex-spouses and to trigger an alert system when they approach their victim.
Called for years, this measure, which has proved its worth in Spain, was one of the main announcements of the "Grenelle" against domestic violence, last fall.
Gradual deployment
The bracelet will be deployed gradually, first accessible in five jurisdictions (Angoulême, Bobigny, Douai, Pontoise and Aix-en-Provence) before being generalized to the whole of the territory on December 31, according to the Ministry of Justice.
The Keeper of the Seals Éric Dupond-Moretti must go to the Pontoise judicial court on Thursday for the deployment.
Around 1,000 bracelets are already available, according to the Chancellery.
But they should only be issued very gradually, on a case-by-case basis for domestic violence cases.
The bracelet can be administered by decision of a judge, both in the context of criminal proceedings, to accompany a judicial review, and as a conviction.
Protection orders
But also - and this is the novelty - in civil proceedings, by a family court judge, as part of a protection order for a woman who denounces violence and who is considered in danger.

In this case, it will then be necessary to ask the spouse for agreement before fitting the bracelet.
If he refuses, the judge will be able to refer the matter to the prosecution to open a criminal investigation.
