In June, a Sino-American team announced that it had manufactured, and tested on rabbits, super-red blood cells capable of fulfilling all the natural functions of red blood cells (giving hope for the end of the risk of blood shortage), but also of delivering molecules in every corner of the body.
There is still a long way to go before the routine use of these new kind of red blood cells.
