Is the main suspect in the attack which left two injured on Friday outside the former Charlie Hebdo premises the one he says?

The investigators in charge of this violent attack with a chopper in Paris are wondering about his real identity.

The man, currently in custody, has so far introduced himself as Hassan A., an 18-year-old Pakistani.

But searches in his cell phone allowed investigators to discover the photo of an identity document.

On it, he would actually be called "Zaheer Hassan Mehmood" and would be 25 years old, these sources told AFP, confirming information from Le Monde.

It is under this identity that this man presented himself in a video recorded before the attack and authenticated by the investigators.

In this two-minute document, which circulated over the weekend on social networks, the assailant who presents himself as "Zaheer Hassan Mehmood" declares himself "moved" by "the caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed that have been made".

He's older than 18

“Today, Friday September 25, I will condemn them,” he adds, claiming to have as “guide” Mullah Ilyas Qadri, leader of Dawat-e-Islami, an apolitical and nonviolent religious group of Sufi inspiration, based in Pakistan.

The custody of the assailant, who accepted his act and admitted having wanted to attack Charlie Hebdo, unaware that the editorial staff had moved to a secret place since the 2015 attacks, was extended by 48 hours on Sunday.

From the start, investigators have been intrigued by his age.

The suspect looking much older than the 18-year-old.

Seven other police custody are still in progress on Monday: three former roommates of the main suspect in his apartment in Pantin, his little brother, an acquaintance and another person currently heard by the DGSI.
