An investigation for non-assistance to people in danger was opened after the sinking of a sailboat on the night of Friday to Saturday which left two dead in the bay of Ajaccio, we learned Tuesday from the prosecution.
A first procedure to search for the causes of death had been opened after the discovery of a first body on Saturday and since Monday, this second part has been opened, said the Ajaccio prosecutor's office.
The investigations were entrusted to the maritime gendarmerie.
Two men aged 67 and 75 were killed in this shipwreck while the third passenger, wife of one of the two victims, managed to swim back to the coast.
In Corse-Matin, the survivor claims that one of Ajaccio's two ports has twice refused, Thursday and Friday, to the Be Bop sailboat access to the port and announces that she has filed a complaint against X for non-assistance to anyone in danger.
"No certainty"
“At this stage, we have no certainty.
We have a hearing of the survivor but everything must be verified and many investigations remain to be carried out, ”said Nicolas Mingant, deputy prosecutor of Ajaccio.
Port directors Tino Rossi and Charles Ornano assure them, on a daily basis in Corsica, that they have not refused any assistance to ships in distress.
"This is what must be clarified," said the prosecution.
