Covid-19: in nursing homes, no re-containment but "visits by appointment"

After a murderous spring, nursing homes fear being hit hard by the second wave of Covid-19.

235 “clusters”, or cases of grouped contamination, are being investigated in retirement homes for the elderly, according to the latest figures from Public Health France.

In this tense context, new reinforced protection measures for nursing homes will be sent to all school directors.

"From Friday, we will recommend that the nursing homes set up visits by appointment to regulate the entries and exits in the establishments"

, explains Brigitte Bourguignon, Minister Delegate in charge of Autonomy.

However, this updated protocol provides for an application

"On a case-by-case basis, depending on the specific health situation of the territory concerned"

, specifies the Minister.

It also encourages nursing homes to organize free flu vaccination campaigns for their staff.
