It's called MY Renewable Diesel, it's produced by the Finnish company Neste and it's the biofuel produced from 100% renewable raw materials that could mark the return of diesel-powered models in all markets where attention to environmental issues is maximum.
Due to their low fuel consumption, diesel engines emit an extremely low amount of CO2 and in the global carbon footprint balance they can be even cheaper - for mileage that depends on the quality of electricity - even than battery-powered cars.
But using Neste MY Renewable Diesel - which unlike the product of fossil origin does not contain aromatics or impurities - combustion takes place with maximum efficiency.
Furthermore, the high cetane number keeps the engine cleaner than traditional biodiesel (FAME) and is the reason why, statistically, fleets using Neste MY Renewable Diesel require less maintenance.
Neste MY Renewable Diesel is suitable for very cold climatic conditions (down to -34 ° C).
Its cold performance is better than that of fossil diesel, again because the high cetane number offers better starting and throttle response.
By evaluating the entire production and use cycle of Neste MY Renewable Diesel, users can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to diesel of fossil origin.
Now Neste, which through the refineries in Rotterdam and Singapore, is the world's largest producer of bio-diesel obtained only from renewable sources, is expanding its distribution network by adding another 100 points of sale in the Netherlands using the facilities of the partners Future Fuels Wholesale BV, EG Retail (Netherlands) BV, GP Groot Brandstoffen en Oliehandel BV and Tamoil Nederland BV.
Neste has been active in the Netherlands since 2011, when the Rotterdam refinery for renewable products started its operations.
Last year, Neste opened a new office in Hoofddorp, just outside Amsterdam, which serves as a global hub for the growing renewable aviation fuel business.
In addition to the Netherlands, Neste MY Renewable Diesel is on sale in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and in the United States in California and Oregon.
Neste MY Renewable Diesel has the same chemical composition as common diesel and this means that it is an immediate replacement for fossil diesel.
The fuel can be mixed in any ratio with fossil diesel or used pure (100% concentration).
Fully compatible with all diesel engines and fuel distribution infrastructure - from refinery to service stations and end users - it leverages proprietary NexBTL technology for refining which is an innovation developed and patented by Neste.
