Can you play sports when you have asthma?

OUR HEALTH ADVICE - Misconceptions about this very widespread respiratory pathology can hamper the desire to exercise.


The asthma attack is both very unpleasant and dangerous: the chest tightens, the patient is short of breath, his breathing is wheezing and is accompanied by a dry cough.

If the attack is not treated, it can lead to the emergency room.

It is the fear of this kind of episode, for yourself or your child, that tends to keep asthmatics away from sports.

And yet, doctors are unanimous in praising the benefits of sport, including for severe cases.

Promoting access to sport is one of the three pillars of the white paper for better management of some 4 million French asthmatics, recently presented by a panel of learned societies and patient associations.
