Two men and a woman, left for a boat trip off Saint-Guénolé (Finistère), were found dead at sea by rescuers, announced Thursday the maritime prefecture of the Atlantic.
It was the wife of the owner of the boat who gave the alert on Wednesday around 7.45 p.m.
Her husband, a 62-year-old man, left around 5 pm for a walk around the harbor on the motorized pleasure boat "Balen", with two passengers, another man and a woman.
Alerted, the Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Center (Cross) then broadcast a “Mayday Relay” message and engaged an “important search device”, with the Civil Security Dragon 29 helicopter, the Prince all-weather canoe. Eckmühl from the National Society for Rescue at Sea (SNSM) from Saint Guénolé-Penmarc'h and two light rescue boats from Finistère firefighters.
Relatively calm sea
The three victims, equipped with their life jackets, were seen around 9:30 p.m. “then recovered in the open sea by the SNSM volunteers and by the diver from the Dragon 29 helicopter about 1 km west of the port exit. de Saint-Guénolé ”, according to the press release.
They were brought ashore at 10:32 p.m.
A doctor on duty in Quimper could only note their death.
Their bodies were then taken care of by the Lorient maritime gendarmerie brigade.
The causes of their death remain unknown, the sea being relatively calm at the time of the incident.
