The Covid-19 epidemic in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and more particularly in Saint-Étienne (Loire), is in the process of being stung by the Covid-19 epidemic.
In just three weeks, the city of seven hills rose from tenth to first place in the ranking of cities with the most new cases per capita (incidence rate).
The Stéphanois recorded, during the week of October 10 to 16, 608 new weekly cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to Public Health France (the alert threshold being 150, and maximum alert of 250…).
Among those over 90, particularly vulnerable to the virus, the incidence even reaches 782 cases per 100,000!
The positivity rate, that is to say the proportion of positive results on all the PCR tests carried out, exceeds 20%.

The situation is moreover critical throughout the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, which is only preceded in proportion to new cases by Île-de-France (respectively 302 and 249 per 100,000).
