In order to strengthen the presence among children, and especially for parents who want to make sure that the children are exposed to content appropriate for their age, Google has launched the YouTube Kids app in Israel, which is designed to provide a child-friendly use experience.

The app will allow parents to control the content and the duration of their children's viewing on the platform, and opens up a variety of viewing options for diverse and family-friendly content, with strict filtering.

It includes four key features that can be customized - a parent-child friendly interface, parent-approved content, screen time and family-friendly content.

Also, ads on the platform cannot be targeted - something that exists in the standard version, and each ad is manually reviewed before it can appear in the app.

In addition, a number of advertising categories - such as food and beverage, gaming, political ads - are prohibited in the app, and all ads are clearly displayed as advertising and there is a notification to users that an advertisement will be displayed soon.

The launch takes place against the background of an increase in the screen time of children in Israel, following the social distance.

A survey conducted by Ipsos at the request of YouTube earlier this month indicates a 63% increase in the average daily viewing of screens of children aged 12-3 during the corona period, from 2.2 to 3.6 hours a day.

The survey also shows that the proportion of children who watch screens every day rose from 70% to 83% during the corona period.

"A survey we conducted in Israel shows that 79% of parents want to change their children's viewing habits on screens," said Hanit Marinov, Google's marketing director in Israel.

"Content adjustment and time constraints will help parents achieve this."
