Volkswagen Argentina announced through a statement that it will review all
Amarok pickups manufactured and marketed in the country from 2016 to the present

The recall arose from an investigation carried out by the German Transport Authority (KBA), which determined possible failures in the fixing of the spare wheel and which led to Volkswagen analyzing to withdraw some 200,000 Amaroks from the market.

In the statement, Volkswagen reports on a possible failure in the support system for lifting the spare wheel, detecting the possibility that "due to the accumulation of dust and dirt, the system presents relative movement, which could cause its breakage" .
The brand informs that although the spare wheel fastening system has another additional safety sling, depending on the conditions of use at the time of said breakage, it may not be enough to guarantee the fastening of the wheel.
"In such cases the spare wheel could detach from the restraint system with the consequent risk of causing accidents that could compromise the safety and integrity of its occupants and third parties," the statement said.
