First swallow for Mercedes' electric division

More than a year after we first drove it and two years after attending its first world show, and after a few units dripped here in personal imports, the official importer Colmobil begins marketing the Mercedes electric crossover.

The EQC is Mercedes' answer to cars like the Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace and the first swallow for a series of electric models that we have fitted six more of these in the coming years.

Three of them will arrive in Israel by the end of 2021, according to the importer.

Including the EQS, the flagship with a range of 700 km.

With 476 cm in length it is larger than its counterpart with the 467 cm long GLC petrol engine and even its "coupe" version 473 cm long. The width is 188 cm and the height is 162 cm. The wheelbase Is 287 cm.

Smaller than that of its competitors (299 in the Jaguar and 293 in the Audi).

The trunk has a volume of 500 liters (656 in the Jaguar and 600 in the Audi).

Two electric motors, the grill is here mainly for the presence

The EQC's electric propulsion uses two electric motors, front and rear that actually create dual propulsion.

The power of the two engines is 408 hp like its two main competitors and with 77.5 kg of torque (ten kg above the competition). Together with an 80 kilowatt-hour battery you get a performance of 5.1 seconds per 100 km / h (4.8 in January 5.7 in Audi) and the maximum speed as usual in electric vehicles is limited, here, to 180 km / h.

The declared driving range of the EQC is 412 km (400 in Audi, 470 in Jaguar) and a fast charge of 40 minutes will bring the battery out of position. Of 10 to 80 percent, equivalent to 300 km. Full charging from home (MODE 3) takes 11 hours. As is customary in electric cars, here too there is a regeneration system for charging the batteries in deceleration and braking, here with five modes.

Aerodynamics biased design

The 5 stars of the crash achieved by the EQC in EuroNCAP tests are joined by a battery of advanced safety systems such as automatic braking (including pedestrian and two-wheel drive detection), lane departure correction, automatic lane departure with signal activation, dead zone vehicle warning, control Adaptive cruising with traffic jams, rear cross-traffic alert and PRE SAFE systems that prepare the cabin for accident absorption.

Air outlets for the rear seats and 287 cm at the wheelbase

The vehicle comes in three trim levels;

Electric ART, Electric and Electric ART AMG Line

The external differences relate to the size of the rims, 19, 20 and 21 inches respectively and the recent AMG package.

In the cabin all versions come with leather upholstery where you can also order the vehicle with seats made from recycled materials, sunroof, sensors and peripheral cameras, split climate control with rear row outlets, electric seat direction, Apple and Android connectivity and more.

The higher finish levels add rear climate control, seat massage, top view, Burmester audio system and more.

The entry price is lower than that of the Audi e-tron in the relevant powerful version, which costs NIS 520,000 and is very close to the price of the Jaguar, which stands at NIS 508,000.
