The debate displeased several students of the establishment, some of whom were not even in his class.

A 16-year-old high school student even began to insult the teacher after this class.

She was indicted on Wednesday in Toulouse, while, according to La Dépêche du Midi, six other minors were placed in police custody.

The teenager is being prosecuted for "contempt of a person charged with a public service mission in a school" and is the subject of a "preliminary probation measure", said the Toulouse prosecutor's office.

It is the subject of the veil that would have triggered his reaction

Three students sanctioned

“There was a debate during class about this.

So far, nothing abnormal, with a debate that begins in the class and a teacher who explains, said the rectorate.

But it is at the interclass that the incident takes place with this insult from the student, about the veil ”.

From La Dépêche, a source close to the case specifies that the teacher "mentioned the principle of secularism and the limitation of wearing the veil in public spaces".

"The controversy did not start from there, but when it indicated that we had more rights in France than in Saudi Arabia," continues this source.

Two students contested this and assured that Sharia was better than French law… ”

The debate would have spilled over into the course and it was during the break that followed that at least three students who were not attending the course approached the teacher.

The Toulouse daily reports that the indicted teenager got angry and insulted the teacher.

Two young high school students would also have been quite vindictive towards the teacher.

A complaint to the gendarmerie

As of Monday, October 12, “the principal initiated a sanctioning procedure against three students of the establishment.

The teacher for her part taught all week but was "followed closely by the principal and the rectorate", according to the latter.

She had filed a complaint with the gendarmerie.

This case comes after Samuel Paty, a 47-year-old history and geography teacher, was beheaded on Friday afternoon, near his college in Bois-d'Aulne, in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines) after showing to his 4th year students of Muhammad cartoons during classes on freedom of expression held on October 5 and 6.
