The lawyers of Jonathann Daval, accused of the murder of his wife Alexia, asked Monday for the postponement of his trial, which is to be held in November, judging the Vesoul Assize Court too small given the constraints linked to Covid-19.
The request for postponement of this trial, scheduled for November 16 to 20 before the Assize Court of Haute-Saône, which sits in Vesoul, "was sent today (Monday) to the first president of the Court of Appeal" de Besançon, Me Randall Schwerdorffer told AFP.
She is supported by the three defense lawyers, he said.

"We would like a larger room, and there are some in Vesoul which are available, where there would be a better quality of distance and a better quality of reception of the public", argued Me Schwerdorffer in an interview with France Besançon blue.
According to him, only "fifteen people could have access to the trial" in the public "which extremely little".

The trial, which was to be held in November, had been postponed to March 2021 due to the coronavirus epidemic before being set again for November so as not to exceed the maximum period of pre-trial detention.
"The objective (of this new request for postponement) is not to set a trap to obtain an unfair release in the context of the trial", thus assured Me Schwerdorffer on France Bleu, wishing for a postponement one or two months.
Jonathann Daval must be tried for "murder on spouse", facts punishable by life imprisonment.
The body of his wife Alexia, a 29-year-old bank employee, was found hidden under branches and partially burned on October 30, 2017 in Haute-Saône.
Jonathann Daval had played for three months the grieving husband before admitting to having hit and strangled her on the night of October 27 to 28, 2017 at their home in Gray-la-Ville (Haute-Saône), during a violent quarrel conjugal.
After a reconstruction of the murder carried out in June, he admitted to having carried out the partial cremation of Alexia's body in a nearby wood.
