Italy: Thousands protest against corona rules

In Italy, thousands of people again took to the streets in protest against the tightened measures in the fight against the corona pandemic.
In several cities they demonstrated on Tuesday evening with "freedom" shouts against the early curfew for restaurants and other shops.
The police used tear gas.
The government in Rome has meanwhile announced economic aid of over five billion euros for the areas hardest hit by the pandemic.
Economics Minister Roberto Gualtieri promised that the funds would be disbursed in a "simple and quick process".
The money should be in the accounts of those affected by mid-November.
It is intended for restaurants, taxi drivers and the entertainment industry, among other things.
Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced that his government passed the decree in a race against time.
"There are people who suffer and can't wait any longer," he said.
Biden again accuses Trump of surrendering to the corona virus

Presidential candidate Joe Biden has again accused US President Donald Trump of surrendering to the corona virus.
"Donald Trump waved the white flag, abandoned our families and surrendered to the virus," Biden said at a campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia.
"But the American people are not giving up."
In the event of his victory, Biden announced: "I will draw up a plan to responsibly fight this pandemic that will bring this country together."
He accused Trump of not listening to science.
So far, more than 226,000 people infected with corona have died in the USA.
Macron announces televised speech - report on lockdown plan

address
for Wednesday evening.
This was announced by his office.
What Macron's speech would be about was initially unknown.
In the past few months, however, Macron has used television speeches to announce new coronavirus rules.
In the past few days, Macron had a few talks to discuss the current situation in the corona crisis.
The French news broadcaster BFM TV reported that the French government is considering another nationwide lockdown.
This could take effect from midnight on Thursday, but then less strict restrictions would apply than in the first lockdown, which had applied from March for two months.
As the television station reports, schools could remain open if there was a new lockdown.
The French authorities registered 523 new deaths related to the coronavirus on Tuesday.
In addition, 33,417 new infections were recently recorded in France.
MEPs reported talking to Prime Minister Jean Castex in which he had warned of overcrowding in hospitals if no new measures were taken.
The situation is serious, said Andre Chassaigne after the meeting.
"If we can't flatten the curve, our hospitals won't be able to treat patients in 15 days."
Prime Minister Castex tweeted that new measures are essential.
Bars in Melbourne open after months of lockdown

In the Australian city of Melbourne, numerous people celebrated the reopening of bars after the month-long lockdown under special corona rules.
The curfew in the metropolis was lifted at midnight on Wednesday.
The state hardest hit by the pandemic, Victoria, had previously registered a "double donut", ie zero new infections and zero deaths related to the corona virus.
"We have been waiting for this for a long time," said bar operator Greg Sanderson of the AFP news agency.
His bar was closed around 60 percent of the year.

The Ministry of Health reported 29,787 new infections within 24 hours.
This increased the total number of infections to more than 5.4 million.
The number of deaths rose by 549 to almost 158,000 within 24 hours.
Brazil has the highest number of infections and deaths worldwide in the coronavirus pandemic after the USA and India.
