A man brandishing a knife was arrested this Thursday morning in the center of Lyon (Rhône), near Perrache station, according to information from the regional daily Le Progrès.
It is not yet known whether he caused any injuries.
The individual was reportedly seen at a streetcar station with a three-foot long bladed weapon in his hand.
The police managed to subdue him at the corner of rue Victor-Hugo and rue des Remparts-d'Ainay, in the 2nd arrondissement.
The man was taken into custody.
He is said to be of Afghan origin.
An investigation is underway, in particular to formally establish his identity.
It is not known at this point whether or not the incident is related to the Nice knife attack, which occurred a few hours earlier.
