The number of new corona infections has reached a new high in Germany: 18,681 cases were recorded within one day, according to the Robert Koch Institute from early Friday morning.

The previous record was 16,774 cases the day before.

The day before, there had been 14,964 registered cases.

However, the values are only partially comparable with those from spring, since significantly more tests are now being carried out and more infections are being discovered as a result.

A total of 499,694 infections have been registered since the outbreak of the pandemic.

The number of people who died with or from the virus rose 77 to a total of 10,349.

The RKI estimates that around 345 700 people have now recovered.

The number of reproductions, or R value for short, was 0.97 in Germany according to the RKI situation report on Thursday (previous day: 1.03).

This means that one infected person infects another person.

The R-value depicts the infection rate about one and a half weeks beforehand.

In addition, the RKI gives a so-called seven-day R in its management report.

The value relates to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations.

According to RKI estimates, this value was 1.17 on Thursday.

It shows the infection process from 8 to 16 days ago.

In the fight against the wave of infections, public life in the Federal Republic is drastically restricted in November.

The federal and state governments agreed on this on Wednesday.

More than 44.88 million people around the world have been proven to be infected with the coronavirus.

This is the result of a Reuters survey based on official data.

Almost 1.18 million people died with or from the virus.

The United States has the most infections worldwide, followed by India, Brazil, Russia, France and Spain.

In the United States, the number of cases of infection increases by more than 91,200 to 8.98 million in just one day.

The number of deaths related to the virus increases by at least 1,055 to 228,885.

The US is the most affected country in the world by the pandemic.
