A 38-year-old woman was shot dead in Haute-Corse by her husband.
The latter was hospitalized for an attempted suicide after his act.
The gendarmes had been called Thursday after the disappearance of the thirty-something.
They then went to the couple's home in Valle d'Alesani (Haute-Corse), in the east of the island and then discovered her injured spouse, Bastia prosecutor Arnaud Viornery said on Friday.
The man, in his forties, "was shot in the face by a gun."
He was hospitalized in serious condition at the Nice University Hospital, according to a source close to the investigation contacted by AFP.
After searching the home, the gendarmes discovered the body of the woman, "killed by firearm".
According to AFP, the body of this woman was hidden under a sofa.
