A Brazilian woman is among the three people killed with a knife Thursday in Nice, announced the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The Brazilian government announces, with great sorrow, that one of those killed was a 44-year-old Brazilian mother of three, residing in France," he said in a statement released Thursday evening, confirming this. that several Brazilian media and tabloids had revealed.
The ministry, which declared that it was not at this stage in a position to specify whether this woman also had French nationality, added that "the Brazilian government strongly regrets and condemns this atrocious attack".
The sacristan slain
A Tunisian who had just arrived in Europe killed three parishioners Monday morning with a knife inside the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption basilica in Nice, shouting "Allah Akbar" ("God is the greatest", in Arabic) .
The 44-year-old Brazilian victim, who fled from the basilica, died “in a nearby restaurant, as a result of multiple wounds,” according to the national anti-terrorism prosecutor Jean-François Ricard.
Another victim was 60 years old and "had a very deep slit on the order of beheading", and the assailant also fatally slaughtered the sacristan, 55, father of two daughters.
"President Jair Bolsonaro, on behalf of the entire Brazilian nation, expresses his deep condolences to the relatives and friends of the fellow citizen murdered in Nice, as well as to those of the other two victims, and his solidarity with the people and the French government", continues the Brazilian ministry.

"Brazil declares its firm rejection of any form of terrorism whatever the motivation and reaffirms its willingness to participate in the eradication of this scourge," the statement concluded.
