"Dear friends" (Arava Film Festival)

Finally, good news for film lovers: thanks to the new outline formulated by Culture Minister Hili Trooper, the Arava International Film Festival, which opens this Thursday, will not only take place in an online edition, but will also include a weekend of drive-in screenings.

It will take place between Thursday 12.11 and the Saturday evening of the 14th of the month, outdoors in the heart of the Middle Arava, and in front of a huge screen.

Another good news is that the artistic menu of the screenings is hot and high quality, and includes two of the most talked about films in the international festival world in recent months - "Another Round" of alcoholic director Danish director Thomas Winterberg ("The Celebration", "The Hunt") starring Med Mickelson, and " The apocalyptic and political New Order of the excellent Mexican director Michel Franco ("After Lucia").

Among the other films that will be screened are Nir Bergman's "Here We Are" based on a screenplay by Dana Idisis that has just won the Audience Favorite Award at the Montpellier Festival and is considered a favorite to win the Ophir Award, and "My Year with Salinger" starring Sigourney Weaver and Margaret Cavalli , Which opened the last Berlin Festival.

There will also be one short Israeli film at the premiere - "Paradise" by Assaf Saban, whose "House in the Galilee" was one of the best debut films of recent years.

Also, as a salute to actor Sean Connery who passed away last night, some of his classic hits will be screened.

The online edition will be launched by "Dear Friends", the new and excellent film by Russian director Andrei Konchlovsky, which won a special award at the last Venice Film Festival.

The "It Will Never Snow Again" by the Polish Malgosha Shumowska, which was screened at the same festival, will also be presented at the event, and the program will include several more premieres of international films.

In addition, the best films will be screened by directors who have already become regular guests in the Arava, such as the Japanese Hirokazu Cora-eda ("My Family").

There will also be screenings of three modern home-made classics: "Avanti Popolo", "Waltz with Bashir" and "Summer Vacation", and a family setting that will include "Kiriko and the Witch", "Moon Man" and "Life as Zucchini".

For more details about dates, tickets and accommodation options in the Arava, see the festival's official website.
