Four people were placed in police custody on Tuesday morning in the investigation into the knife attack in a church in Nice by Brahim A., last Thursday, which caused the death of three people.
These four men were arrested in the Val-d'Oise.
According to our information, they are part of the family circle of A. BA, a 29-year-old Tunisian already in custody, who traveled with the perpetrator of the attack during his migratory journey to Europe.
One of them, a 29-year-old Tunisian, is suspected of having been in contact with the assailant, but assures investigators that they are completely ignorant of his terrorist project.
The other three, aged 23 to 45, were present at the home of the first.
A selfie in question
Until these new arrests, six people had already been placed in police custody since Thursday.
But all were released, with the exception of one suspect: A. BA.
This man is suspected of having traveled with Brahim A. on board the boat which docked on the Italian island of Lampedusa, in the Mediterranean, then of having transited with him to France.
According to our information, a selfie was found in A. BA's phone.
suggesting to investigators that he was with Brahim A. in Nice.
Their path had finally separated earlier.
It was in fact another man, who is part of his family and is among the four newly arrested.

As for Brahim A, 21, he is still hospitalized on Tuesday morning.
Seriously injured by the police during his attack, he tested positive for Covid-19, a contamination that could delay his hearing by several days.
