Promo of the series "Lock Hour" (here 11)

The main motif in the fifth episode of "Lock Hour", which closes the first half, is the understanding of the heroes of the series that they are left alone.

So are the warriors left on the mountain, so is Manny (Lior Ashkenazi) who fears the worst, and so is the strange couple Yoav (Aviv Alush) and Avinoam (Shachar Tabuch), the lone survivors known from Mount Hermon, who lost the rest of the power with them in a bloody battle in the previous episode. Soldiers flee the post and join IDF forces).

Yoav - who in the previous episode appears to have been wounded in battle, while in the current episode there is no presence - and Avinoam still has accounts from the previous episode around the killing of an unarmed Syrian soldier. The argument between them was not based on morality or Humanity - but about military tactics on the battlefield. They soon move on to talk about other things - metaphorically, Avinoam squeezes the blood from the shirt to close this episode - and the two get closer.

Avinoam says that he fled to the books and that only in the army did he feel for the first time that he could use his talent.

He also discovers the origin story of the acorn hedgehog: a gift from a girl he secretly fell in love with.

Mazuz also has his own story: Officer Daphne and his apprehension of offering her marriage in light of the differences between them - a traditional Mizrahi versus an Ashkenazi and secular kibbutznik.

Yoav plays a ring with which he planned to propose marriage to Daphne, and tells about the mystical role she played at birth - which suggests the possibility that another stage in the wheel of life is approaching (representations of parents in "lock time", according to testimonies: Orientals - mothers standing in front of pots, grandmothers doing magic with rings Ashkenazim - childless Holocaust survivors, and left-wing bohemians who do orgies. Long live the stereotype).

The psychic conversation between the two approaching is dramatic and honest, allowing them to give each other gestures in this tense moment.

Yoav tells Avinoam that he is "okay" and takes care of him and Acorn, and also forgives him for missing the ride because of him (Avinoam also finally accepts the recognition that his commander in the listening unit did not give him, for he was right all along);

Avinoam, for his part, tells Yoav that Daphne is the lucky one who won it.

They recognize each other's abilities, and decide to "jump into the water" after the war.

The conversation between the two is touching, because it hints at all the plans of all the young soldiers who did not get to fulfill them.

Exposed to Yoav.

Added to this conversation is a particularly dramatic connection: the two - who for some reason do not bend or hide even though they know there are enemy ambushes in a completely open area - notice that they are in a minefield.

It's a tense scene, but they manage to get through it safely, only to find that the war never really ends: after Yoav hands Avinoam a real grenade - not a hand grenade, God forbid - he gets on a mine and loses a leg, at least.

Avinoam cries out for help, and at this point we do not know if Yoav is alive or dead, and how the two can get out of there.

Did Yoav die, and Avinoam remains the only survivor of the outpost?

I believe not.

Unfounded assessment: The horse farm in Dafna's kibbutz, mentioned in a conversation between the two in the minefield, will become a therapeutic farm in the concluding campaign, through which a loved one will recover, if he survives.

Touching.

Meanwhile in volume: Headquarters is still in chaos, and Daphne herself, even after five episodes, has almost no text and plot.

Outside of the Knesset, the joint journey of Manny and Malachi (Maor Schweitzer), and the pleasant friendships that have developed between them, are coming to an end. The depressed Manny continues with the mental reckoning of his son's abandonment. door "and I do not even know him," and now he reveals that in fact the boy tried to contact all the time, and it is the father who tried to acknowledge.

(Manny reminds a children's story called "terns and fish" the odd couple, who loved us especially. I'm curious about the anecdote This: Is this an allusion to Manny's relationship with Yoni's mother? With Yoni himself? Is this an existing children's story - I did not find any documentation in Hebrew under this title - or is it a generic children's story, a symbol of the connection between a father and a small child?).

Manny recognizes in Malachi Lev under the piles of the pose, and promises to meet him after the war (will they both survive it?). He hints to him and us, for the fourth time at least in the series so far, that the person who reported him was a close friend. Bitton, the best actor in the series so far without a shadow of a doubt), who for some reason did not appear for the same demonstration. Malachi begins to think so, and will avoid Alush when he meets him.

M in a kind of romantic triangle with Marco's sister, will no doubt confront.

Presumably one of them will not return alive from the war, and a host of clues - the accusation of gossip, his girl's request from an angel to guard him, the courage and devotion to the mission - indicate that it will be Alush.

tension.

Alush and Marco, "Lock Hour" (screenshot)

On the mountain he died quickly from an internal injury to the pilot who was almost blown away at the end of the previous episode. Suffice it to say a painful truth to the soldiers who saved (?) Him: you are alone. Caspi (Omar Perlman) is undermined a little more. Marco (Ofer Hayun) reports to the headquarters about the pilot's collection, but decides not to tell the whole truth out of a gloomy understanding of the class differences: if they come for a live pilot - maybe they will save him too. The plan works better than planned, with Malachi connecting with his friends for a long time. In a special, most sensitive moment for this character so far, he realizes what happened to the dead Aviram (Ido Bartel) and the animal money - and goes to hug the latter. Perhaps it is only now that Malachi fully understands the meanings of the new situation.

The rescuers say they will only take with them wounded and tankers. Alush understands that this means a death sentence for the paratroopers, including his new friend Yoni Ben-Dror (side question: Will he confront Caspi about the shooting of his team? Did this episode pass completely?). He decides to stay, in a non-pathos speech about the need for solidarity, while sharpening the difference between him and Marco, who openly despises military logic - as shown in the series - in which only a pilot justifies sending a rescue to a neutralized and detached force. In both cases, it is the soldiers who understand that they are determining their own destiny, against organizational logic.

This theme constitutes "Lock Hour" as the third part of the corporation trilogy of 2020, after "Tehran" and "Manaich": in three series representatives of security organizations are forced to rely on their intuitions in a task they are not willing to give up, with one or another decay within the organization. "Lock time" is the dysfunction of the ranks above) threatens to collapse its values and tasks. At the end of those two series (spoiler), the protagonists lose. History does not guarantee the "lock hour" fighters an optimistic end.

On the mountain the argument ends in Alush's victory. Even Marco and Malachi surrender, agreeing to remain in a losing battle on Masada. In doing so, in fact, the three actually accept the position of Caspi - the shocked and infamous commander, who led a similar line in previous episodes and caused resentment and criticism from his subordinates. Now Alush is replacing Caspi as the dominant figure on the mountain - but Caspi's legacy is the one that has won.
