Coronavirus: 472 new deaths in hospital in the last 24 hours

22,180 new cases of covid-19 were detected on Tuesday. In total, more than 42,000 people have died from Covid-19 in France since the start of the epidemic.


472 Covid-19 patients have died in hospital in the past 24 hours, according to data published on Tuesday, November 10 by Public Health France.

This brings the total toll since the start of the epidemic in France to 42,207.

On Monday, France had recorded the highest daily toll since the start of the 2nd epidemic wave with 551 deaths in 24 hours.

The peak of the epidemic is in front of us, the second wave is still progressing

," the Director General of Health, Professor Jérôme Salomon, warned on Monday.

The record of deaths recorded in 24 hours in hospital during the first wave of the epidemic was crossed on April 6, with 613 deaths.

Intensive care admissions still on the rise

France is the 4th country in the world in number of cases, also said Jérôme Salomon Monday.

22,180 new cases were detected on Tuesday, against 20,155 the day before.

In intensive care units, admissions are also on the rise with 472 new admissions in 24 hours, for a total of 4,736 patients affected by Covid-19 in these services, out of a total capacity and all pathologies combined already increased from 5,000 to 6,400 beds and which should soon increase to 7,500.

The test positivity rate fell slightly on Tuesday, since it went from 19.8% on Monday to 19.6%, but it still remains high: it was at 4.4% at the beginning of September.
