The twist in the opening episode of the 17th season of "Grey's Anatomy" (courtesy of yes and STINGTV)

After delays and uncertainty due to the corona and social alienation constraints, "Grey's Anatomy" finally returned to the United States yesterday (Thursday) for its 17th season (1).

She returned with a double episode, continuing a plot that began with the daughter series, "Station 19", which also returned with its own fourth season - both will be broadcast on yes TV Drama, VOD and STINGTV starting this coming Monday.

As requested from a series taking place in a hospital, "Anatomy" could not have ignored the corona virus.

He played a role in the double opening episode - which is even adorned with a dedication to the front workers - and will likely be a part of the rest of the season as well.

Among other things, the staff of the Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital had to sadly see dead patients from Corona without being able to do anything for them, and do so without proper protective equipment - elements that are of course detached from the heroic struggle of medical teams in reality.

After a particularly intense episode came what everyone is talking about, an exciting and jaw-dropping moment: the return of a beloved, much-loved character who left the series years ago.

Caution, henceforth huge spoilers:

"There's so much darkness, and we knew Union would bring a little ray of light," Pompeo says.

"So I think we basically had a similar idea - we wanted to bring people a smile to the face. Patrick loved the idea and we were both so excited, and we had a lot of fun filming it."

Dempsey himself says he followed the entertainment news reports on how a series like "Grey's Anatomy" deals with social distance on the set, employee masks department and so on.

And as Pompeo says, he came back to "provide comfort in an age of uncertainty"

"I think the whole atmosphere has changed. To take pictures on the beach and see everyone again - it was a very healing process that I benefited a lot from, and great fun," he says.

"And hopefully, that feeling will be translated and viewers will enjoy it."
