There are more and more options on the market.
Amazfit, a
wearables
maker
owned by Chinese giant Huami Technology, offers seven series of smart watch and wristband products.
In the fashion range, the Amazfit GTS 2 stands out, a watch full of sensors that costs 169 euros and has a design reminiscent of the famous Apple Watch.
EL PAÍS has tested this
wearable
for a few days
.
It has a 1.65-inch rectangular AMOLED screen and an aluminum alloy case.
It also has an anti-fingerprint coating and a glass designed to avoid scratches.
In the tests carried out by this newspaper, the fingerprints are barely marked and the screen is displayed clearly and with the appropriate brightness and contrast in almost any case.
The user can choose between different spheres: from the most classic, reminiscent of analog clocks, to the most modern and futuristic through customizable ones - it is possible to select a photograph.
The Amazfit GTS 2 has a side button that is designed to open a menu and access different functions.
For example, the alarm, monitoring of physical exercise or heart rate and weather.
The watch, which has a rubber strap and will be available in black in late November or early December, is quite comfortable and lightweight.
In fact, you forget you are wearing it as soon as you get used to it.
Its battery is 246 mAh and, depending on the use, it can reach a week of autonomy.
To charge it, you have to leave it on a base for just over an hour.
Pairing the watch with the mobile is the first step to start using it.
It is enough to scan a QR code that appears on the Amazfit GTS 2 screen. Much of the control and configuration of the
wearable
is done through the Zepp application.
In tests carried out by this newspaper, the watch has been linked to an iPhone.
Although in general the connection has worked correctly, sometimes the
smartwatch
has been disconnected from the mobile for no apparent reason.
In doing

down the screen clock some fast controls appear.
For example, flashlight, brightness, battery saver mode, home screen lock, or sound.
To check notifications, for example from WhatsApp, just slide your finger up on the clock screen.
The device also vibrates to notify the user that they have received a notification or that they are calling.
A limitation of the
wearable
is that it does not allow the installation of applications and to receive any notification it has to be connected to the mobile phone.
Also, unlike what happens with other smart watches, in this case it is not possible to reply to messages from the device.
Yes, it is possible to receive calls and speak from the watch, since it has a microphone and a speaker that offer good sound quality.
The company also ensures that "in the near future" the device will incorporate the assistant Alexa in Spanish.
Sport and health

This is one of the reminders that the watch triggers when it is idle for too long.
The Amazfit GTS 2 can monitor the exercise we do.
In total it has 12 sports modes: outdoor running, walking, cycling, treadmill,
spinning
, open water swimming, pool swimming, elliptical, mountaineering, trail running, skiing or free training.
During workouts, it records data such as distance, speed, heart rate changes, and calories burned.
Smartwatches and trackers, in combination with remote consultations, have the potential to reduce in-person visits to medical centers or hospitals.
This watch assesses the quality of sleep and measures the heart rate at all times to sound an alarm in case it is abnormal.
With the Amazfit GTS 2 it is possible to consult the stages of light and deep sleep, in addition to the REM phase, breathing or the times one wakes up.
In principle, most user-verifiable data appears fairly accurate.
The Amazfit GTS 2, like other watches on the market such as the Apple Watch Series 6, is also designed to measure oxygen saturation in the blood.
The Center for Evidence-Based Medicine (CEBM) at the University of Oxford warns that these types of technologies may not provide completely reliable figures.
João Paulo Cunha, associate professor in the department of computer engineering at the University of Porto, explains on the technology portal
The Wired
that blood oxygen measurements from these types of watches can be used at the consumer level but not at the clinical level.
"These sensors are not accurate, that is the main limitation, even the heart rate monitors are not very accurate," he says.
