A judicial investigation was opened in Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) after the discovery of anti-Semitic tags on the walls of a city in the city, according to an elected representative of the city.
“The matter is taken very seriously.
The city has filed a complaint and an investigation is underway, ”said Paul Quin, the deputy mayor in charge of security.
"In particular, there will be comparisons made at the level of entries with other tags".
Several anti-Semitic inscriptions in early November
In early November, the first anti-Semitic tags appeared on the walls of the city of Bollwerk, near the city center.
They were quickly erased by municipal services.
New tags were added in the days that followed, and over the weekend, still in the same neighborhood.
The local section of Licra (International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism) has also expressed its intention to take legal action.
“Once again odious anti-Semitic tags sully the walls of Mulhouse.
Once again, individuals do not hesitate to express their hatred, ”she condemned in a statement.
"The Licra calls on the public authorities, once again, to find them and bring them to court," she added.
