The social network announced that they would transfer the official president's account on the day of the Biden swearing-in, even if the Trump administration refuses to do so.
Twitter and Facebook will transfer the accounts of the President of the United States to the Biden administration on January 20, the two social networks announced yesterday (Saturday).
The announcement comes from both after incumbent President Donald Trump has yet to acknowledge losing to Joe Biden, and after a string of appeals he filed in an attempt to change the election results on baseless allegations falsified.

The user POTUS (English for President of the United States) is the official account of the President of the United States.
Trump has private users on both networks, and he tends to write in them more than in the president's official accounts, with the last time the president's Facebook account posted a post being on May 18, 2018.
"Twitter is actively preparing for the transfer of White House accounts on January 20, 2021. As we did in the 2017 transition, this process was done in conjunction with the National Archives of the United States," the company said.
"In 2017, we worked with the outgoing Trump administration and the incoming Trump administration to make sure the transition on their Facebook and Instagram pages was flawless, and we look forward to doing so this time as well," Facebook said.
The two networks plan to transfer on the day of Biden's inauguration to the presidency also the accounts of the White House, the vice president and the first lady.
Politico recently reported that transferring the president's Twitter account does not require any information sharing between the outgoing Trump administration and the incoming Trump administration.
It has also been reported that Twitter intends to meet in the coming months with officials on the transition teams of Biden and Vice President-designate Kamela Harris to discuss how they intend to use their accounts.
