A police officer was assaulted in the night from Sunday to Monday in Toulouse by an alcoholic man who tried to strangle him with the cable of the agent's radio device, according to a source close to the investigation.
After an emergency call denouncing violence in the apartment of a couple living in a district in the north of Toulouse, a patrol found themselves face to face with a young man, at the entrance of the building, towards midnight.
The identity check escalated and three police officers had to rescue their colleague on the ground.
The attacker was arrested and taken into custody for attempted murder.
The 30-year-old policeman spent the night in the hospital, under observation, before returning to his home on Monday morning.
