While Europeans hope to be able to meet again for Christmas, the governments of the various countries are calling for caution so that the holidays do not become "Covid factories", to use the imaginative phrase of Prime Minister Jean Castex.
To reinforce the message, its Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, chose last week to draw a comparison with Canada which celebrates Thanksgiving every second Monday in October.

This feast day gives rise to large family reunions.
Meals without a mask, different generations that come together, indoor meetings given the season ... all these elements seem
a priori
contraindicated in epidemic times.
However, according to Olivier Véran, Canada experienced "a resurgence of the epidemic" after Thanksgiving.
But is this really the case when looking at the numbers?
