Vesoul's public prosecutor, Emmanuel Dupic, announced Tuesday that he will not appeal the 25-year prison sentence of Jonathann Daval for the murder of his wife Alexia.
The defendants' lawyers had announced their identical intention on Saturday.
So even if the 10-day deadline for filing an appeal is not yet over, Jonathann Daval's judgment seems final.

"#Daval trial: the public prosecutor is not appealing the decision rendered by the # Haute-Saône assize court", announced the Vesoul prosecutor's office on Twitter.
"I had indicated that the decision which was rendered by the jurors would be the right one, we are in a search for appeasement now", also declared Emmanuel Dupic at the microphone of France Bleu Besançon.
"The Haute-Saône needs to turn the page […] Justice has been rendered", continued the prosecutor, who had nevertheless requested life imprisonment.

In the absence of an appeal, Jonathann Daval will soon be transferred to the central house to serve his sentence.
"In general, it is quite fast, but there is no legal deadline and for the moment there is absolutely nothing decided" concerning the prison to which he will be sent, indicated his lawyer Me Randall Schwerdorffer .
In the meantime, Jonathann Daval is expected to remain in solitary confinement.
Three months in the lie
The 36-year-old computer scientist was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Haute-Saône Assize Court on Saturday evening, after a very followed and intense trial.
Alexia Daval's family had expressed their satisfaction with the sentence handed down and also expressed their willingness to turn the page.

He was arrested in January 2018 after playing the grieving widower for three months.
