The four police officers suspected of having beaten up a tobacco producer on Saturday in Paris were summoned this Friday by the police, the IGPN.

As announced by Franceinfo and confirmed to the Parisian by the prosecution, they were placed on their arrival this afternoon under police custody.

These four police officers were suspended from their duties after the beating of a music producer, documented by a video widely distributed on social networks, in the midst of a debate on the right to film the police in operation.

Police officers risk dismissal

This new case has arisen thanks to the publication by the site Loopsider of images which show a black man, Michel Z., beaten up by police officers in the entrance of a music studio in the 17th arrondissement of the capital.

"I was told

several times and punching me," denounced the victim, coming to file a complaint, with his lawyer, at the Paris headquarters of the IGPN.

"I would just like the work (of the IGPN, editor's note) to be done," he said at the end of his testimony.

“I have no doubts about it,” he added.

Guest of the 20 Hours of France 2, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, announced that he would ask for “the dismissal” of the police officers involved, “as soon as the facts are established by justice”.

He accused them of having "soiled the uniform of the Republic".

National emotion

The first three police officers were initially suspended.

Then a fourth, who arrived as reinforcements and suspected of having thrown a tear gas canister in the music studio, was in turn suspended.

Asked about a possible resignation of the Paris police prefect, Didier Lallement, the Minister of the Interior said he wanted him to continue "to exercise his functions".
